Streaming seemed like a good idea, but when profits need to rise in order for stock prices to increase, there will be a cap on how many subscribers a singular streaming service can maintain or how high prices can rise.

The studios thought copying the Netflix model of being both the producer and distributor of their films would be financially wise, but they didn't realize that skipping movie theater releases or decreasing the window of which a movie plays in theaters killed an entire revenue source. This is responsible for much of how the movie industry functions, and as consumers we were sold on this idea. Ultimately, diminishing this revenue stream hurt their profits.
