Jeff visits Lyman Gilmore School in Grass Valley which is where the local legend built airplanes and what may have been the first commercial airport in the United States. But historians don't believe there was any way that his steam-powered glider could have possibly made it off the ground in 1902.
It's an interesting theory but the man himself was also fascinating.
Jeff and Sarah also will tour the Nevada County Narrow Gauge Railroad Museum in Nevada City, Calif., to see some of the interesting Lyman Gilmore artifacts on display as well as the first steam-powered auto and the Studebaker wheelbarrow made for the miners!
