Did Mormon theology evolve... or did God Himself change?

In this episode of A Logical Deconstruction of Mormonism, Bill Reel examines one of the most significant theological shifts in early Mormon history: the changing nature of God in Joseph Smith's teachings.

The earliest Book of Mormon repeatedly presents Jesus Christ as the Eternal God and teaches that God Himself would come down among humanity. Joseph Smith's earliest (1832) First Vision account describes only one divine being. Yet by the end of his life, Joseph was teaching that the Father and the Son were separate beings, that God the Father had once been a man, and that human beings could eventually become gods themselves.

Was this simply "continuing revelation"? Or did Joseph's theology fundamentally change?
