While consciousness remains debated, and AI consciousness moreso, the Buddhist philosophers notably Vasubandhu, have no issues with either. Unlike Locke who thought external objects primary and consciousness arises from that, or DesCartes who famously puts it all on Reason governing a "dead" body, Vasubandhu's system take the Middle Way with a system that adequately explains how both AI and human consciousness operate.
