As the tenth anniversary of Duane Allman’s death approached, I began putting together a "Special Issue" of Guitar Player magazine to celebrate the Duane's extraordinary legacy. Everyone I contacted agreed to be interviewed, including his brother Gregg, his close friend John Hammond, Pete Carr from the Hour Glass, and members of the Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section. I also reached out to Dickey Betts, Duane's co-guitarist in the Allman Brothers Band, and Dickey graciously devoted our entire conversation to Duane.
Transcripts of all these interviews were originally published in the October 1981 issue and are now posted on my "Talking Guitar" online magazine: jasobrecht.substack.com/.
