In this review we go over why Dice A Million feels like the perfect game. Yes, it wears its Balatro inspiration, but the game play feels different enough to stand on its own. After mentioning for a while about how dice-based roguelikes were pushing into a space that card games have dominated for years, here it is. A near perfect addition to the sub-genre.
That is, until the biggest issue reveals itself. Boss fights. They are not strategic. Instead of testing the build you crafted, they simply counter it. Spawns cannot be rerolled, or meaningfully played around. When a system built on creativity and synergy suddenly removes your ability to respond, it kills the joy of the run, fix the bosses is my main complaint.
