How has she become the face of a movement? “I simply shared my story and continued being visible.”
The root of her passion is personal.
When Guerrero was in high school, she came home one afternoon to find her worst fear had come true: her parents and older brother had been deported from their Boston home, back to their native Colombia. Only 14 at the time, she was left to fend for herself until a friend’s parents took her in.
