"I'm through with love,
I'll never fall again,
Said adieu to love,
Don't ever
call again,
For I must have you or no one,
and so I'm through with love.
I've locked my heart,
I keep my feelings there.
I have stocked my heart with icy frigid air,
and I mean to care for no one,
because I'm through with love.
Why did you lead me to think you could care?
You didn't need me,
for you had your share
of slaves around you to hound you and swear,
With deep emotion,
Devotion to you.
Goodbye to spring,
and all it meant to me,
It could never bring the things that used to be,
for I must have you or no one,
and so I'm through with love"

Dulce Pontes is a portuguese singer. O Primeiro Canto her fifth album, demonstrates that she is a clone of no one. Although Rodrigues influence is quite strong on this album, Pontes individuality comes through on the up-tempo Patio dos Amores as well as haunting, dramatic ballads such as Porto de Mágoas, Garcia Perdida, O Que For, Há-De Ser, and Fado-Mãe. Pontes brings a tremendous amount of feeling to these performances, and while comparisons to the great Rodrigues are well-intentioned, O Primeiro Canto leaves no doubt that she is an excellent fado singer in her own right.
Waldemar Bastos was born on January 4, 1954, in MBanza Kongo, Angola. He started singing at a very early ageplaying his father instruments. After the independence of Angola in 1975, at the age of 28, he left Angola and came to Portugal. In 2008 Waldemar was honored with an Award in 1999 for World Music.
Antigamente a velha Chica
vendia cola e gengibre
e lá pela tarde ela lavava a roupa
do patrão importante;
e nós os miúdos lá da escola
perguntávamos à vóvó Chica
qual era a razão daquela pobreza,
daquele nosso sofrimento.
o rosto daquela senhora, daquela senhora,
2008 version:
[Mas quem vê agora
o rosto daquela senhora, daquela senhora,
