The Last Planner® System is widely used by lean construction practitioners. This system offers a systematic set of planning functions, principles, processes, and methods to help with construction project planning, and is described as a Benchmark to meet and beat (Ballard and Tommelein 2016, 2021). The goal is to achieve plan reliability. Today we focus on how this is done by making work ready in the lookahead planning process and by conducting first run studies to ascertain process capability.
