I watched Devotion and wanted to make a quick episode about it. The plot is simplistic, if not prosaic, but it is an easy and repeatable format that I’d like to see more of. The movie is about the first black US Navy aviator, Jesse Brown and his attempted rescue during the Korean War by Thomas Hudner Jr. Hudner would get the Medal of Honor for that. The movie is about that and their relationship. Let’s talk about why it’s trite, yet functional.
