An Devilskin kommt kein waschechter Rockmusikfan vorbei! Mit ihrer kraftvollen Gangart und ihren großen kompositorischen Fähigkeiten hat die neuseeländische Band in den zurückliegenden sechs Jahren für viel Aufruhr gesorgt. Einem Tornado gleich haben Devilskin auf Tourneen unter anderem in ihrer Heimat, in Australien, England oder Deutschland das Publikum wild durcheinandergewirbelt und mit ihrem Platin-gekrönten Debüt We Rise Fans wie Medien gleichermaßen begeistert. Ihr zweites Album Be Like The River setzt diesen Pfad einer rockmusikalischen Verwüstung fort und zeigt nicht nur das riesige Potential der vierköpfigen Formation, sondern auch ihre erstaunliche künstlerische Weiterentwicklung. Wenn Gitarrist Nail seine tonnenschweren Riffs wie Torpedos aus der Hüfte feuert, die Rhythmussektion um Paul und Nic Martin – nebenbei bemerkt: Vater und Sohn – ihre erbarmungslose Groove-Maschine anwirft und der blonde Vamp der Gruppe, Sängerin Jennie Skulander, entschlossen das Zepter an sich reißt, gibt es auf Be Like The River kein Halten mehr. Wie auf der Bühne erweisen sich Devilskin auch auf ihrer aktuellen Scheibe als gut geölte Rock-Dampframme, die erst dann zur Ruhe kommt, wenn wirklich auch der allerletzte Ton mit entsprechender Leidenschaft und Empathie versorgt wurde. Kein Zweifel: Diese Band muss man gehört und gesehen haben!

There’s no way getting around Devilskin for any died-in-the-wool rock fan! With their powerful pace and impressive compositional skill, the band from New Zealand has created a major stir in the past six years. Like a tornado, Devilskin have stirred up their audience in Australia, England and Germany and delighted fans and media alike with their platinum-winning debut We Rise. Their second album Be Like The River is set to continue on this path of musical destruction and proves not only the great potential of this four-piece, but also the amazing artistic development they have undergone. When guitarist Nail shoots his heavy riffs like torpedoes straight from the hip, the rhythm section surrounding Paul and Nic Martin – who, by the way, happen to be father and son – revs up its merciless groove engine and vocalist Jennie Skulander, the group’s blonde vamp, resolutely takes control of the mic, there’s no stopping Be Like The River. As live on stage, Devilskin are a well-oiled rock machine that won’t rest before even the very last note has been delivered with the passion and empathy it deserves.
