Silent color 16mm film containing b-roll material shot for Detroit Means Business containing shots of SEMTA Commuter Rail trains, a circus in Joe Louis Arena, activity in Eastern Market, Indian Village, the finish line of the Detroit Free Press International Marathon on Belle Isle, and the construction of the General Motors' Detroit/Hamtramck Assembly.

The film opens with footage of SEMTA Commuter Rail trains in the railyard to the east of the Renaissance Center. Among them is Engine 903.

Next, the film features material shot on at a circus in Joe Louis Arena. A woman rides by on the back of an elephant, and an alien-themed act unfolds.

This is followed by a series of shots of vendors and shoppers in Eastern Market. This section begins with activity outside the Winder Street entrance to Shed 2, which it's chicken mural in view. Next is a series of pans and close-ups of a vender's wares outside of Shed 2 on Winder. A shopper and vendor are then filmed across the street from another of Shed 2's entrances. Next, the Russell Street face of Shed 5 with its large fruit-shaped cutouts over its windows is the focus. This is followed by a shot of the cow mural above the Russell Street entrance to Shed 2. Several more shots follow of vendors and customers inside one of the sheds.

Indian Village is the focus of the next portion of the tape. Here's the camera operator films both a "This Is Historic Indian Village" sign presumably located along Kercheval Avenue, as well the exterior of the house at 2129 Iroquois Street.

Next, the camera moves to the vicinity of the finish line of the Detroit Free Press International Marathon, adjacent to the Belle Isle Casino. This section opens with aerial footage taken from a helicopter of the Scott Fountain, the Casino, and crowds gathered along the route, From the ground near the finish line, the camera captures a passing Detroit Police Department car, the winning runner breaking the tape, additional runners arriving, someone pouring Fresca into promotional cups, runners in the distance approaching from The Strand, people checking in at a table, and even more marathon participants arriving, including one using a wheelchair.

The film portion of the film contains a series of shots of construction workers pouring the foundation for the General Motors' Detroit/Hamtramck Assembly plant in Poletown. The camera captures another camera crew at the event.

The film is contained on a plastic core within an Allied Film Labs bag. The film's leader is labeled "Urban Comm 9/28/81 City 22) B178-7161 - 7958 - 23) CT339-0656-0981."
