An entertaining, introspective, and easy to understand introduction video on why you should care about an indie point and click adventure game you might now have heard of: Detective Instinct: Farewell, My Beloved.
This game is a delight, easily being my favorite game of last year. In a time of my life where most games do absolutely nothing for me, this debut title from studio Armonica LLC spoke to me. I hope it can speak to you all too.

Detective Instinct is a miracle. Projects like this are what make me get up in the morning and keep writing. If a team this small, this passionate can manage to get a game out this good, what’s stopping you? Don’t answer that, I’ve checked the news. There’s an inspiration for both the SNES and DS eras of the japanese adventure game, made by a team of people that knows what they love about those games and what makes them tick. This is a genuine love letter made by ADV super fans…and it shows.
A woman goes missing on a train back to London, and two American teenagers on a return trip from studying abroad in the fictional country of Allegoria choose to play detective. What unfolds is a five-day mystery, taking place on board a single locomotive, Agatha Christie-style. Or if you’re a weeb, diabolical box style. While utilizing a classic command menu to interact with the environments, the protagonist and Emma interrogate a suspicious cavalcade of quirky characters and search for clues in a charming adventure game that can be knocked out in a single (very enthusiastic) 5-hour session.
