This question just opened Pandora’s box, because melee means something completely different to a Destiny 2 player. In Destiny 2, each class has its own melee abilities with unique effects, interactions, and in many cases enough damage or utility to become a major part of your build and playstyle. So when Mactics asked whether melee actually matters in The Division 2, the simple answer is yes—but nowhere near in the same way. Melee is relevant in The Division 2, but once you start looking at the weapons, talents, exotics, enemy interactions, and specific situations where it becomes useful, the answer gets much deeper than a simple yes or no.
