High over the Utah Desert and just West above the town of Grantsville. OATH hiked Deseret Peak to its summit elevation of 11,033 ft. MSL. We camped at the Loop Campground around 8,000 ft. Even in June it gets cool at altitude. It was a nice 8 mile round-trip hike through lush meadows, wild-flowers, pine forests, Quaking Aspen, and the occasional persistent snow-drift. It was like the land of Oz.
