A very unique tradition has been developing in the Oregon Outback. Hundreds of Vans and Adventure Rigs travel from all over the globe for one giant vanlife meetup. To gather together in their home on wheels and as the name puts it, Descend on Bend!
This was our first year attending the five day festival and we couldn't have felt more welcomed. Before Chelsea Murray and I moved full time into our 2004 Econoline van, we lived in Bend, Oregon. We would see other vans on the road and in town but found it hard to connect. That was until this event! As soon as we parked so many people welcomed us and came up to introduce themselves.
We thoroughly enjoyed seeing the other custom made homes and were able to witness the true creativity that goes into making a vehicle a home. We also loved giving tours of our own hard work and truly bonded with the stories of how we overcame so many common obstacles. This event was not short of activities and Chelsea and myself were loving every second of the live music, cold beers, fire pits, slip n slide, yoga sessions, great food, games, and mingling with everyone else in this little pop up van village!
I filmed as much as i could while still being present in this event. This video represents my perspective of this event and i hope you enjoy it! It will be a true priceless souvenir for me to watch over and over again while reminiscing this incredible event!
