The City’s Capital Improvement Program is a five-year plan that outlines important infrastructure projects and how they’ll be funded, based on available resources. Each year, the City approves a budget that sets aside money for specific projects from the plan.

To create this plan, the City looks at what needs fixing or improving, sets priorities, and uses tools to check road conditions and explore different funding options. It also includes upgrades to utilities like water systems, sewers, and storm drainage.

In 2024, as part of this plan the City made improvements to an alley behind Oakton Street between Linden and Orchard. Watch this video to see how the project looked from beginning to end, and how it impacts the Des Plaines Community.
