Derek Cianfrance is genuinely one of my favourite filmmakers. Getting to chat with him was such an honour. You may know Derek for his work on countless terrific films, from BLUE VALENTINE, a film starring Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams, it’s a film that depicts relationships in such a real manner, it’s not romanticised. He’s also the director behind one of my favourite films, A PLACE BEYOND THE PINES, a film that includes bank heists, and corrupt police, but all while being wrapped up in a tale of family, and fathers and sons. Speaking of family, he also directed THE LIGHT BETWEEN OCEANS, an adaptation of the novel by ML Steadman. He also directed the recent hit HBO tv show, I KNOW THIS MUCH IS TRUE. And as you may have heard, he’s set to direct THE WOLFMAN, a brand new re-imagining of the classic tale! Derek is one of my favourite filmmakers, and he’s an immensely kind guy!
