There’s no doubt that Jesus Christ claimed to be the Son of GOD, but what exactly does this relationship entail? This was a very serious issue in the early Roman Church. Was Jesus GOD, Son, or both? Early councils adopted the view of Jesus as GOD and eventually added the Holy Spirit to the mix; making Jesus a part of a 3 in 1 GOD. Refuting this issue cost many their lives. For over a thousand years you could be executed for teaching anything other than the trinity, but was it original to scripture?
