Day trip north of us up to the Denali Highway near Paxson, AK.
We drove out May 8th, 2020 along the Denali Highway to Tangle Lakes Area, just before the pavement ends at mile 21. We saw some caribou, moose, ptarmigan, fox and had the place to ourselves. If you keep going west onto the gravel road another 112 miles you will eventually end up in Cantwell, AK which is only 28 miles south from Denali National Park & Preserve.
I wish the it would have been a clear and sunny day, but this video gives you an idea of how dramatic the weather can make things seem up here.
