If you do nothing for a good while, the demo will automatically end. This is the worst in cases such as cutscenes, like when you're watching the driveby before the race begins. As a note, moving around and not skipping that causes the demo to end anyway, so you have no choice but to skip it.
The Big One is considered a "rookie" challenge. It is the most luck based of all this demo gives however. I've cut out 30 other attempts trying to get this one and only left you 1 fail and the successful one, because it's entirely random and unfair on how you're even able to get through this. If you go to the left of the track, you fail. If you touch ANYTHING, for even a tiny bit, you fail. If you go to Position 24 at ANY point, you fail. You have little to no room to work with and the crashes are random, meaning you can end up in any position, including positions where it's entirely a wall and you're never going to get through it. This "rookie" challenge sucks.
Part of me feels like this game is heavily wanting steering wheel players, as it is just very hateful towards anyone using a controller. But at the same time, the steering is SO stiff that you genuinely cannot even make some turns very well at all. It doesnt help when the demo also gives you full stability control, which forces you car to tighten MORE when turning, almost being a straight line right into walls at times. It's horrid, and if it takes THAT little to suddenly go drifting, then i'm sorry, but this isn't right, i'm not driving on freaking wet roads here, the Nascar cars can't suck THAT bad at steering!
Trying to even get the rookie timer in the whole circuit race thing is a real pain in the ass too. I can only get so lucky with getting under 50 seconds, expecting to get under 49.7 is just not something i can do with a controller unless i spend many hours at it with better understanding of this game's problems and gimmicks.
