A demonstration of the unique characteristics of authentic, unpolished gut lyre strings on a magnificent recreation of the ancient Greek kithara of classical antiquity!

The piece is a 'live' performance of "Pensive Thoughts" - track 1 from my 2020 album, "New Ancestral Music - Rebirth of the Ancient Lyre" (available from Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon & iTunes).

As the gut is unpolished, each string is not perfectly uniform, resulting in each string actually having its own, subtly unique, individual timbre.

Indeed, it is precisely this individuality of voice for each separate lyre string, which Plato alluded to in "The Republic" where he compared a well ordered society to a well tuned lyre - every individual in a well ordered society has their own unique character (just as each individual lyre string has its own unique timbre) but when ordered, can work to create perfect harmony.

The overall tone is distinctively warm & as gut is harder & more dense than nylon, the attack is much crisper and immediate.
