I have a lot of influences for this song. With Sum 41 being one of them. Such an awesome band.
It's done. After over one and a half years, I've finally gotten a new song out there. This particular one took around thirteen hours to complete, about three-fourths of that in two days.
There's still some parts I don't like about this, but I'm happy with it. It's a different style from that of my other songs, such as Perseverance and Purple Lightning. That style is: impossibly fast. Stuff that is impossible to play in real life. The tempo is 1500, and 2250 in the solo with every line having at least one note. It was an absolute mess to make. That particular part actually gave me some recording troubles because it was so fast. But you know what, I like fast.
This is also (get ready to GROAN) kind of a love song. The persona has a crush and make friends with her; she enjoys his company but his self-esteem is so low that he knows he will ultimately fail in winning her. This negative Placebo Effect eventually does cause him to lose her, as a girlfriend and as even a friend.
Not my best work in my opinion, but I'm happy that I made this.
Lyrics:
It started the first day I saw you.
The day I saw your smile.
A very pretty face.
Couldn't get you out of my head...
These butterflies in my stomach
And tensions in my heart
Left me in a constant sickness
Tossing and turning in bed...
So why must I sit here thinkin bout the possibilities
When they are not being taken?
I sit here, stand here, nothing here is being done
Cause there is nothing to amend
So I see you sitting, all alone with no one else
I make the move, and it went so well.
We walked and talked and we got along
And for now she was my friend...
BUT
How can I work?
How could this last?
Am I going too strong?
Am I going too fast?
Consistently pushing,
consistently wanting,
My demons are
haunting...
I want the demons within
To calm within
But they're incessant
Never to end (so how long)
will it be
before you say...
I'm not your
girlfriend?
I see your smile and it keeps me going...
I see you using my name more and more...
I see you having a good time...
I see you being my friend...
So now... how long can this be?
Before I screw up and just lose it all?
I probably shouldn't worry...
But history... repeats itself...
How can I work?
How could this last?
Am I going too strong?
Am I going too fast?
Consistently pushing,
consistently wanting,
My demons are
haunting...
I want the demons within
To calm within
But they're incessant
Never to end (so how much longer)
will it be
before you say...
I'm not your
girlfriend?
So this is it, I suppose...
Demons are winning
Now they took over and their winning the war...
How can I face this? How can I push them away?
They're pushing me, and in turn
Suffocating...
-soft part, she is lost...-
But can I turn this around?
She asked for space, so how?
Must I go on like this?
I gotta beat the demons
I gotta rise and hope
I gotta preserve
Take them by the rope...
Make sure
Every good time
Lasts longer
In our heads
Never fear
Don't worry at
All!!
I'm not your boyfriend...
You're not my girlfriend...
I'm not your friend...
You're still my everything...
And I'm your nothing...
Could any of this have happened?
If I just let the demons go?
They however, I think they've become
A part of me....
So how can this work?
How could this last?
Am I going too strong?
Am I going too fast?
Consistently pushing,
Consistently wanting,
My demons are
haunting...
I want the demons within
To calm within
But they're incessant
Never to end
so that's why
you said...
