This is a guide on replacing a screen on Dell Precision 7670.
For the replacement process we will need:
- a plastic pick
- and tweezers
To begin turn the laptop off and disconnect the power cord.
Now we have to remove the bezel. Insert a plastic pick between the bezel
and the LCD from the inner side. Move the pick along the edge.
Insert the plastic pick between the bezel and the LCD on the outer side
move it along unsnapping the tabs underneath. Move the pick around the perimeter
releasing the bezel. Put the bezel aside.
The screen is held in place with two adhesive strips on the sides. Using tweezers
pick up the loose tab on the right side and pull out the adhesive strip.
Pull out the adhesive strip on the left side.
Now when the screen is released, place it on the keyboard to get access to the video
connector. The connector is secured with two pieces of film. Peel off the first
silver tape. Then using a plastic pick and fingers peel of the second piece of film.
Open the connectors bracket. (not sure if the bracket was under the black tape or something?)
Discard the old screen.
Place the new screen on the keyboard. Reconnect the video cable. Close the connectors
bracket (?) secure it with a clear and a silver tape.
CAUTION! It is very important not to force any connectors. Also
make sure not to twist or slant the connector when plugging it in.
Lift the screen up and lean it against the back cover. Now we can test the new screen.
Reconnect the power cord and turn the laptop on. The screen is working and we
can finish the installation process.
In order to secure the screen in the back cover we are going to use a set of adhesive strips,
which you can buy on our site: laptopscreen.com.
Use alcohol and a piece of cloth to clean the surfaces on the screen sides.
Apply adhesive strips. Lift the screen and fully open the laptop. Apply some pressure
to catch the adhesive. Make sure that the tabs on the top of the screen are tucked away.
Replace the bezel. Go around the perimeter, snapping tabs back in place. Make sure
that the bezel in snapped in the bottom.
Reconnect the power cord, turn the laptop on and we are done!
