Delhi's air quality index (AQI) has crossed 400, a level considered very poor, ahead of the Diwali festivities. Despite previous assurances, the situation appears to be worsening. The central government data suggests an overall AQI of 319 in the national capital. Areas such as Anand Vihar, Bawana, IGI Airport, and Major Dhyan Chand Stadium have reported AQI beyond 300 and in some cases, beyond 350. The CAQM has imposed graph 2 measures to discourage private transport and augment public transport options.
