This DVD contains footage of part of the dedication ceremony for the new Delaware Public Archives building on Delaware Day (December 7th) in 2001. It begins with extended views of the Research Room and the large crowd gathered there. Ed Freel, Delaware’s Secretary of State, then begins the events. First, the Polytech ROTC Color Guard presents the colors. Next, Debbie Dalton’s 4th-grade class from Fairview Elementary School leads the gathering in the Pledge of Allegiance, and Judy Cross, Miss Delaware, sings God Bless America. Ed Freel then speaks, providing background on the history and development of the new building. He introduces and thanks the Friends of the Archives, the legislators present, and the fundraisers who helped construct the building. He introduces Governor-elect Ruth Ann Minner, but the video ends before she speaks.
