Jess Settergren was diagnosed with breast cancer after a routine mammogram in 2019. Her treatment included surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, and hormone blockers, along with many of the most common side effects. She's been a practicing Pagan since 1996 and discovered a lack of cancer support books from a Pagan perspective. She wrote Defying Shadows hoping her experience would help others.
