Today’s coastal offshore wind industry is growing rapidly, and with that the amount of wind resources close-to-shore are rapidly fading day-by-day. Thus, moving further offshore to exploit deep-sea wind resources is an inevitability. Official research data from the China National Climate Center estimates a potential one billion kilowatts of total deep-sea area wind power resources – nearly twice that of the coastal area. China's first deep-sea floating wind power equipment "Fuyao" is equipped with 6.2 megawatt typhoon-resistant wind power generating units.
This floating turbine is installed in Luodousha sea area, where the average water depth is 65 meters. The turbine - independently researched and designed by CSSC Haizhuang Windpower – marks a crucial milestone in the development of the Chinese floating offshore wind power industry.
