A dedication to Daniel Mauricio Zamudio Vera; A 24-year-old Chilean man, who was tortured and murdered in San Borja Park by attackers, because of his sexual orientation. This man also happened to be a proud member of the Britney Army.

On March 2, 2012, Daniel was attacked in San Borja Park, in downtown Santiago. He was severely beaten and tortured for six hours, until he was unconscious and left for dead. He was taken to the hospital of Santiago, where he spent the next few weeks suffering from traumatic brain injury, a slit ear, a broken leg that was caused by a heavy stone and cuts on his stomach that were made from broken bottles. Cuts that were made in similar marks to swastikas. In other parts of his body, there were also cigarette burns found. As a result from all that, he died 25 days later, on March 27, 2012.

The attack on Daniel was committed by four people, who were allegedly linked to a Neo-Nazi gang. The attack caused a public outcry in Chilean society and raised a debate over homophobia in the country and the lack of anti-discrimination laws related to hate crimes.

After Daniel's death, Chilean president Sebastián Piñera urged parliament to speed up the adoption of the law on hate crimes, which had been on the shelf for over seven years. The law would ban discrimination based "on race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender, appearance, or handicap." In July 2012, the law was passed, signed by the President and entered into force.

On October 17, 2013, all four men of the committed crime were found guilty of first degree murder. Judge Juan Carlos Urrutia pronounced that Patricio Ahumada Garay, Alejandro Angulo Tapia, Raul Lopez Fuentes and Fabian Mora Mora were guilty of a crime of "extreme cruelty" and "total disrespect for human life." On October 28, 2013, Ahumada was sentenced to life imprisonment, Angulo and Lopez were sentenced to 15 years, and Mora, the youngest of the four, received 7 years because of his cooperation with investigators and his lack of prior convictions.

Upon from his death, Daniel became a well-known symbolic LGBT figure for Chile and his death also caused the public to accelerate legislation against discrimination. It also helped open new doors of acceptance and tolerance of differences in the conservative country. Even as of today, he will ALWAYS be remembered as a true proud member of our Britney Army. ~ According to sources (a.k.a friends), he named Britney as one of his biggest idols. He loved her so much that he would listen to her music every day and would also sometimes like to dance to her music as well. He was a true Britney Spears fan.

When it comes to the Britney Army, we will ALWAYS still together... Not just for Britney Spears, but for the entire army who love her. #RIPDanielZamudio
