This straw hat was very flimsy of course and certainly not weatherproof or waterproof. Enter Decoupage and paper mache and of course our weaterproofing spray. Protect it from rain, humidity and UV rays! We don't want our pretty work to fade. We can use this inside if you don't want to put it out in the elements. I decoupaged a metal watering can, put it in my garage during the winter and when I went to use it in the following spring, there was a tidy little birds nest on the inside. There's a tiny space under our garage door and one of the tiny birds must have wisely built her nest in our garage where there were no predators. We do remember having baby birds flying around the garage/ So the birdies will build a nest where they feel protected. Why not make it pretty?
