In this episode of Breakdowns & Beatdowns, I take on a truly vile little gem from The Fuel Project titled “Atheists Don’t Exist”—a video so smug, so dismissive, and so intellectually dishonest that I couldn’t not respond. According to him, you’re not really an atheist. You secretly believe in God, you were “born a theist,” and you’re only denying it because… you just want to sin. 🙄
We walk through his entire argument:
his claim that all cultures prove belief in God is “innate,”
his abuse of psychological studies about immortality and the afterlife,
his weird conflation of spirituality, theism, and Christianity,
his absolutely bonkers idea that your deconstruction is just you suppressing the truth so you can be sexually “confused.”
I break down why this is not just bad theology, but deeply insulting to anyone’s mental autonomy. We talk evolution, fear of death, cultural afterlife stories, non-theistic religions (hi, Buddhism), and why waving your holy book in someone’s face to tell them what they “really” believe is one of the surest ways to show you don’t respect them at all.
