I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Today I am addressing some frequently repeated anti Book of Mormon claims concerning alleged anachronisms in the text.
An anachronism is something appearing out of its correct time period. For example, if you read a story about Genghis Khan using a mobile phone, you could be fairly certain the story was fiction since Genghis Khan lived centuries before the invention of cell phones.
Many critics of The Book of Mormon claim the text is full of anachronisms. Some, such as the appearance of horses in pre-Columbian ancient America, are worth debating and weighing in on the evidence or lack thereof. Most of the claims of anachronisms, however, fall apart as soon as you read what the text actually says and understand the context.
