He is the author of 5 New York Times bestsellers, was a monthly columnist for Scientific American for 18 years, and writes a weekly Substack column. He received his B.A. in psychology from Pepperdine University, M.A. in experimental psychology from California State University, Fullerton, and Ph.D. in history of science from Claremont Graduate University. Dr. Shermer has been a college professor since 1979, having taught at Occidental College, Glendale College, Chapman University, and Claremont Graduate University.
