This addictive top-down driver/shooter from 1996 came out before the first GTA game, before even Carmageddon. Death Rally was quite the craze back in the mid-90s, and still very fun to replay today. This video was played on the "I Got Petrol In My Veins" difficulty, using only 1 save-game per car (mostly).
At the time of this video upload, the game was free on Steam! And it doesn't even require dosbox; it runs natively on Windows.
