Here's what we're reacting to TONIGHT:
Chapter 25: Gwyn steps outside for the first time in years to join training, and right away you understand exactly why she signed up. She doesn't want to feel powerless ever again. Then Nesta heads to Windhaven with Cassian and pays a visit to Emerie's shop, where she finds Emerie's cousin Bellius making himself a problem. Nesta handles it. Over lunch the two start to open up about their families, and the friendship forming here is something worth watching. Meanwhile Cassian is off meeting with Eris in the Illyrian Steppes, probing for what Beron knows about the Dread Trove. Eris knows exactly how to get under skin.
Chapter 26: Cassian is miserable after his meeting with Eris and tells Nesta why: Eris is willing to help them find the Trove and won't tell his father, which is exactly what they wanted, and yet it feels like Eris has the upper hand and Cassian hates it. Nesta, in her own particular way, decides to help cheer him up. Emily will take point on this one. Azriel has other plans.
Chapter 27: Gwyn still hasn't found anything useful on the Trove. Cassian is heading back to Windhaven and Nesta sends a package with him for Emerie: spices and tea. Cassian tells Emerie she can thank Nesta by showing up to training. Emerie says it's not the right time. The next morning, Emerie is there.
Chapter 28: Emerie struggles. Her wings were clipped by her father and not by a healer. He did it himself, she fought back, and the damage shows in how she moves. But something unexpected bonds Nesta and Emerie immediately: a shared love of smutty romance novels. They offer to lend some to Gwyn. Rhys comes to collect Emerie, notices Gwyn, and slips into Nesta's head to tell her to treat Gwyn with kindness. Nesta tells him to mind his business. Emerie agrees to come back the next day.
Chapter 29: Nesta makes it to step 3,000 this time. Cassian heads to a strategy meeting without her, where Amren pushes the Trove search forward and floats the idea of asking Elain instead. Azriel objects to exposing Elain to the darkness of the Trove. Cassian objects to the whole thing. They give Nesta one more week. Back in the library, Merrill has figured out that Gwyn swapped the book and comes looking for a fight. She does not find the one she was expecting. Gwyn reveals she is one quarter river nymph. And then: Nesta decides she can't ask the priestesses to face their fears if she won't face her own, so she attempts to scry for the Trove. Nothing happens. She tells Cassian the power is gone. He tells her it isn't. That night, the Cauldron finds her in a dream. She wakes screaming, bathed in silver fire. Cassian and Azriel reach her first. Rhys tries to pull her out of the nightmare but can't get through. Cassian reaches her. Rhys follows. When it's over, Rhys tells Cassian what he saw inside: everything she went through in the Cauldron. What it took from her. What she took from it.
