The Berkeley Changemaker Program started with our very own Alex Budak, who created a course that has taken the campus by storm. I am pleased to invite you to our next Dean’s Speaker Series, Becoming a Changemaker, on Wednesday, September 14 at 12:30 pm in Spieker Forum.
Becoming a Changemaker, created by Alex Budak, started as a course in 2019 and quickly grew to be one of our most popular electives for both undergraduates and MBAs. The course combines empirical research, case studies, experiential exercises, and visits from a diverse array of guest speakers to help students learn to lead positive change from where they are.
Alex Budak’s concepts were so popular that they have since been extended to the entire Berkeley campus. We now have over 20 changemaker courses at Berkeley. We congratulate Alex on his amazing influence on UC Berkeley!
Alex will be joined by four alumni of this course, Ibrahim Baldé (BS ‘20), Shannon Eliot (MBA ‘20), Angelica Song (BS ‘20), and Alicia Wilson (BS ‘23), for a panel discussion. They will discuss lessons learned from the changemaker course, their journey as changemakers, and advice for future changemakers. Following the discussion, there will be time for audience Q&A.
This event coincides with the launch of Alex Budak’s book, Becoming a Changemaker. In-person attendees have the opportunity to win a free copy of the book. Books will also be for sale before and after the event.
