Division of the Humanities Dean’s Salon, Sept. 18, 2024 - Dean Deborah L. Nelson and composer Augusta Read Thomas, University Professor of Composition in the Department of Music and founder and director of the Chicago Center for Contemporary Composition, share an interactive and spirited discussion about the concept of “Dimensional Virtuosity” and Thomas’s creative process. Several of Thomas’s compositions are discussed, including "Bebop Kaleidoscope—Homage to Duke Ellington" for orchestra, commissioned by the New York Philharmonic.
