Envoy is the first instrument built on our new Cadence Engine™. At its core, it is a percussion instrument designed around rhythm that does not remain fixed.
Most sequenced percussion repeats the same pattern from bar to bar. Envoy’s Flux Randomizer™ continuously reshapes a sequence as it plays, introducing percentage-based variation to timing, velocity, note length, and pitch. Switch it off, and the original pattern remains exactly as you created it. The randomization is entirely non-destructive and never overwrites the underlying sequence.
Every source in Envoy was captured from analog percussive synthesizers and Eurorack hardware. There are no acoustic samples or digital sound sources.
The instrument combines two independent layers with three separate clocks. Each layer has its own sequence and playback rate, while the master LFO operates on a third rhythmic division. The clocks can be synchronized for tightly gridded patterns or set to different divisions, allowing them to cycle against one another and create longer, constantly shifting rhythmic relationships.
Envoy runs in the free Kontakt Player, so a full Kontakt license is not required. It is also fully NKS-ready.
