It's possible to glitch up the day-night cycle of the game so that you can play at night without enemies or alternatively play during the day with enemies.

0:00 - this glitch can be done in any Chapter where peek break-out is possible.

One side effect of peek break-out is that York can end up peeking in the overworld when exiting a building. If you're in the middle of a outdoors peek when the day-night cycle is about to change (i.e. at 0:00 or 6:00 AM), the cutscene that officially changes the cycle cannot play. Therefore, you end up in a curious limbo state where the graphical effects partially reflect the new time of day while the game logic still operates under the old time of day.

In this first example, peeking at 0:00 makes the sky become glowing and red-tinted but enemies will not spawn, scary music won't start playing and many daytime activities like fishing & peeking are still possible to do.

1:28 - In this second example, peeking at 6:00 makes the sky become blue but enemies will keep spawning, scary music will continue playing and daytime activities like fishing will remain disabled.

2:06 - NPCs can't spawn in the world during night, so a shop like Lysander's is abandoned at the moment and can't be visited even though it says "Open".

2:27 - entering mission cutscenes looks pretty strange since other characters cannot appear at the moment. Here's an example from Chapter 12. The game crashes at the end of the cutscene, possibly because the game can't spawn Nick who you're supposed to tail afterwards.

4:28 - In Chapter 15, there's an alternative way to start the "permanent night" version of the glitch. Do a Sigourney break-out and then enter the graveyard otherworld sequence. Normally you can't use Radio or flare to escape this part, but the Sigourney cutscene changes that. Just quick travel elsewhere to enjoy the game world at a mismatched day-night cycle.

5:27 - While the glitch is active, naturally occurring day-night cutscenes act in a buggy way. There's just a quick flash and the glitch itself does not become fixed.

To note, the glitch does become fixed if you sleep or enter loading zone, so you can't take it with you through the entire game or anything like that. It's just a situational cool thing to try out.
