🌿 Yes, Deadheading Perennial Salvia Is Totally Worth It! 💐 In this video, I’ll show you several easy methods for trimming salvia by hand AND with hedge trimmers to keep your plants blooming beautifully all season long!
Here's why deadheading salvia is a great idea:
✅ Encourages More Blooms – Removing spent flowers redirects energy into producing new spikes
✅ Prolongs the Blooming Period – Many varieties rebloom all summer with regular trimming
✅ Improves Appearance – Keeps your garden looking tidy and vibrant
✅ Reduces Unwanted Self-Seeding – Helps control where your plants spread
🔪 How to Deadhead Salvia:
— Wait until the flower spikes start to fade and brown
— Use clean pruning shears to cut just above the next set of leaves or a visible bud
— For leggy or overgrown plants, cut back by up to one-third to encourage fresh growth and reblooming
