The composer Jason Graves will be responsible for conceiving the atmospheric score for Dead Space 2 title.
The original orchestral music score will centre around the thematic Lacrimosa movement that runs throughout the whole game, varying in intensity depending on the main hero Isaac Clarke's encounters.
Graves was responsible for the soundtrack for the first game, with the game's audio director praising Mr Graves' "energy and unique vision for the music".
The composer said that he attempted to capture the main character's "vulnerable side" in parts of the score, which takes players on "quite the emotional arc".
He added: "The score really runs the gamut as you play through the game. There are much bigger and scarier pieces along with quieter, more personal moments to counterbalance them."
