Do Dr. Snelling's papers on the geology of Israel provide a response to my Dead Sea Chronicles young-earth challenge? It has been suggested to me that I need to consider his papers about geology of Israel. Andrew Snelling, recently retired from the Young-earth creationist' apologetics ministry Answers in Genesis, attempts to explain Israel's geology within a young earth framework. I focus particularly on his treatment (or lack thereof) of the Dead Sea's formation and its massive salt deposits. While Snelling provides extensive descriptions of Israel's geology, he utterly fails to adequately explain critical evidence like the 6,000 feet of halite deposits and the complex sedimentary layers beneath the Dead Sea.
This video is a sidebar to my ongoing series examining geological evidence that challenges young earth creationist interpretations of the Dead Sea's formation. I argue that Snelling's work, despite its technical language and detail, avoids addressing key problems that a young earth model must explain.
