Dead or Alive 6's third session of the beginner guide look at how throws operate in DOA6.
There are 4 primary throw speeds for every character:
- i5 Neutral Throw
- i7 Punish Throw
- i10 Punish Throw
- i12 Counter Hold Punish Throw
Throws serve three purposes in DOA6:
#1) Opening up a blocking opponent
#2) Punishing a whiffed counter hold for hi-counter throw damage
#3) Punishing unsafe moves on block (or even whiff) with an unbreakable throw
Offensive Hold "catch throws" have these attributes:
- They beat out the onset of strikes
- They beat out blocking opponents
- They beat out whiffed holds for counter hold damage
- They lose out to throws for hi-counter throw damage
*Jumping offensive holds are best beaten with low throws during the recovery phase

For Directional Notation:
7 8 9
4 5 6
1 2 3
Each number represents the corresponding direction. 1 for "Down-Back", 9 for "Up-Forward", 5 for "Neutral" or no input, etc. Quarter-Circle Back = 214, Quarter-Circle Forward = 236, Half-Circle Back = 63214, Half-Circle Forward = 41236, etc.
For Input commands:
P = Punch
K = Kick
H = Hold/Guard Button
T = Throw Button
S = Special Button
P+K = Strong punch
H+K = Strong Kick
H+P = Alternate Way to Input "Throw"
H+P+K = Alternate Way to Input "S"
