#NewMusicFriday: This week marks the anniversary of this series of online music videos. It was a year ago this week we released the ‘If Only You Would Listen’ video featuring forty cast members of School of Rock from around the world. Soon after that Nicola did a cover of ‘Home’ from Beetlejuice as the very first solo video. To mark the anniversary, I wanted to do something from Beetlejuice again and I’ve invited a few uber-talented performers to give this special performance. I’m sure most people here can instantly recognise these faces, but in case you don’t know them: Ayla is best-known for her role as Young Elsa in the original Broadway cast at the St James Theatre. You can also hear her voice in the Broadway cast recording (and an Elsa doll)! Kaylin is best-known for playing the title role in Annie at the Hollywood Bowl, where she shared the stage with Lea Salonga. She won a Broadwayworld Award for her performance in this role. Nicola is best-known for being one of the original Matildas in the UK and Ireland Tour. She made her professional debut in the Billy Elliot UK and Ireland Tour when she was nine. I couldn’t be more honoured to have this trio of amazing performers take part in this video. These superstars have come together to give this spellbinding performance of ‘Dead Mom’ from Beetlejuice.
When I started this series of videos, theatres had been asked to shut their doors. A year on, it’s very exciting to see theatres opening again in the next few months. Thank you for all your support and participation over the past year. As long as people are still interested, I’ll continue producing these videos for young performers to showcase their talent and for people to enjoy!
