AU where Simon is a part of the Project Hail Mary crew with Grace.
Simon is tasked with trying to encourage Grace to go on the mission willingly; as the launch date draws closer Simon knows that Stratt is desperate for Grace to go and is fearful of what she might do. Simon trys to tell Grace to leave the mission, but that's not in Grace's nature. In the end Stratt forces Grace to go on the mission (same storyline as PHM) and Simon willingly joins Grace in space.
