Twelve 5 Church gathered to set apart Blake Davis to the office of deacon. After careful, prayerful examination of his life, doctrine, household, and faithful service, the church publicly affirmed God’s call and entrusted him with the responsibilities of this sacred office.
This service includes:
• A pastoral charge concerning the biblical office of deacon
• A time of congregational Q&A and affirmation
• The formal congregational affirmation of Blake’s calling
• Prayer from each of the existing deacons
• Prayer from each of the elders
• The laying on of hands by the elders and the prayer of ordination
We believe the office of deacon is not honorary but functional. It is rooted in Scripture and vital to the health of Christ’s church. As Acts 6:3 instructs, deacons are to be men of good repute, full of the Spirit and wisdom, appointed to serve so that the ministry of the Word and prayer may remain central.
Please pray for Blake and Miriam as they step into this season of service. Pray that he would model 1 Timothy 3:8–13 with integrity and joy, and that Christ would be glorified through his faithful work.
