6 June 2019 marks the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landings and the battle of Normandy.

D-Day was the largest seaborne invasion in history. By the day's end, 156,000 troops had been landed and a tentative but strengthening beachhead established.A door in Hitler's much-vaunted "Atlantic Wall" had been well and truly kicked open.
