Here I take Bazza through the initial setup for TrackIR and DCS.


Before we get in the bird we go through:
- Setting up the profiles in TrackIR
- Binding the basic controls to the HOTAS


Then we get in the hot started bird and go through:
- Getting the HUD symbology on the HMDS - Helmet mounted display system
- Setting up the flares - chaff
- Activating the RWR
- Basic Autopilot dobber operation
- Master Arm switch location
- Introduction to some of the Panels -- MFD - ICP - DED
- Kitting out the Viper with some fuel pods


After we go through the basic theory we grab the HOTAS and get moving where we go through:
- Correct Ground speed for taxiing on the straights and turning
- Bringing up the ground speed information on the DED
- Lining up the VIPER on the strip and the HUD symbology to look at when taking off.
- Correct rotation technique and speed
- Then we take off!


After we take off we enter a pattern and bring it back down for a landing at the same strip where we go over:
- HUD symbology
- Correct approach path
- Approach speeds and when to lower gears and extend airbrakes and also why using airbrakes to learn makes landing easier
- Using the Landing marker and Flight direction markers to ensure the approach
- Correct flaring and air braking techniques


This is a long video that I haven't cut but maybe a resource for someone down the track so I recorded it.
