From coffee to tamarind, Jarritos—named after traditional Mexican clay drinking jugs–forged their brand by staying true to their Mexican heritage and pushing flavor profiles further.
The Nike SB Dunk Low Jarritos weaves its rich history and signature colors into a canvas and leather Dunk inspired by the original canvas bags used to harvest the vibrant fruits that drive the brand’s unique flavors. Using custom insole art, bold colors, and their iconic green and orange hues, the SB Dunk Low Jarritos pays homage to culture, tradition, and craft. Along with three lace options, co-branded tongue and heel art, the shoe features a tearaway canvas overlay in high abrasion areas, revealing hits of safety orange when skated.

Seeing a lack of diversity and representation at skate parks, the streets, and, most importantly, the absence of a safe space for new skaters to express themselves, they started by organizing a skate meet-up in the brand’s hometown of Glasgow, Scotland. The impact of those early sessions sparked their project to become a full-fledged brand with the goal to represent and inspire the community around them and abroad.
As a women-led brand, Doyenne acts as a collective entity comprised of skaters, artists, activists, and creatives, using the brand as the rallying force to mobilize and amplify women and non-conforming genders in skateboarding. Along with their events, fundraising, and activations, Doyenne designs clothing and product with a purpose, focused on creating gender-neutral products made with an ethical and sustainable mindset.
We spoke with Doyenne to understand their mission, ethos, aspirations, and how their pointed visual and ethical point of view informs the brand and its community as well as their recent collaboration with Nike SB.

Comic | Skateboarding and Our Mental Healthnikeskateboarding2023-01-19 | Sit back and listen to John Rattray as he reads through the Why So Sad? comic developed in partnership with Dr. Bruce Perry, Push to Heal, and the Center for Healing and Justice Through Sport.
It explores the roots of depression, anxiety, and the chronic stress that, unchecked, can lead all the way to suicidal ideation.
It does not claim to provide all the answers or solutions, but it does discuss how skateboarding, as well as sport and other rhythmic activity, can be used as one part of a healing tool-kit.
Developing a basic understanding of the physiological components of this thing we term ‘mental health’ has been a game-changer for me. I hope it can help you too.
Love to all. — John Rattray
Note: The intent of the following story is to shine a light on recent work that helps us better understand our own mental health. With that, it touches briefly on the topic of bereavement by loss due to both suicide and alcoholism.
More from Nike Skateboarding Official website: nikesb.com Instagram: instagram.com/nikesb Twitter: twitter.com/nikesbNike SB | :58 With Why So Sad?nikeskateboarding2023-01-18 | Why So Sad? is an ongoing exploration into the nature of mental health initiated by John Rattray. After losing his sister to suicide and dealing with depression himself, Rattray developed the project starting in 2017.
Why So Sad? is not a charity but rather, a storytelling platform that approaches a serious subject through a lighthearted play on skateboarding’s language. The “Sad Plant” and “Sad Grab” are two tricks adopted as motifs to symbolize the conversation. “I think of it like a shared code,” Rattray says.
The mission of the project is to invite conversation. It simply asks that—as well as skating or riding— we also take some time to stop, talk, listen, read, and learn about this subject.

After many unsuccessful forays into skateboarding, Nike tapped a visionary by the name of Sandy Bodecker to lead a new charge. Fresh off his success integrating Nike into an equally challenging world of global football, Sandy quickly had Nike heading in the right direction with skateboarding, too.
It started with four of the most stylish dudes to ever ride a skateboard and, as they say, the rest is history. Head to NikeSB.com see how we navigated the last two decades and get a glimpse of where we're going.
