Hey everyone, today I’m going to show you how to install a valve cover on a 2006+ Honda S2000. Installing the valve cover is necessary after performing valve adjustments and more so its a good thing to know how to do! The following steps don’t strictly need to be followed in this order so feel free to follow this guideline loosely.
Difficulty: Easy
Estimated time: 15 minutes
Tools necessary:
- 3/8 Ratchet
- 10mm socket
- 5mm hex drive
- Pliers
- 17mm wrench
1. Gently rest the valve cover onto the cylinder head. Place the fresh air vent hose onto the valve cover and make sure that the coil pack wiring harness is out of the way. Drop the valve cover onto the cylinder head and gently pop it into place as the spark plug tube seals make contact.
2. Install the dipstick.
3. Screw the PCV hose into place and then insert the hose into the intake manifold. Use a set of pliers to replace the hose clamp holding the hose to the intake manifold. Then use a 17mm wrench to tighten the bolt holding the PCV to the valve cover. Torque it to 33 ft-lbs.
4. Reinstall the valve cover washers and rubber seals and then reinstall the 5 10mm head cover bolts. Tighten each of the bolts evenly by working in a sequence from the middle towards the edges. Torque them to 8.7 ft-lbs.
5. Insert the coil packs into place and move the coil packs wiring harness back into place. Plug each coil pack into the coil pack wiring harness. Then reinstall the 4 10mm bolts holding the coil packs to the valve cover. Torque them to 8.7 ft-lbs.
6. Reinstall fresh air vent hose clamp using some pliers.
7. Reinstall the TDC sensor and fasten it to the valve cover with a 10mm socket. Torque it to 8.7 ft-lbs. Then plug in the TDC sensor to the wiring harness and clip the wiring harness back into place.
8. Lastly, reinstall the spark plug cover by installing the 4 bolts holding it in place with a 5mm hex drive. Torque them to 8.7 ft-lbs.
